Katherine A. "Kathy" Tanyer

Katherine Ann (Kathy) Tanyer (Shimmy), 67, died unexpectedly on February 11, 2026, at Independence Health in Greensburg.  Born April 7, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Francois V. and  Irene (Persichetti) Tanyer.  Kathy was a graduate of Jeannette High School Class of ’77.  She recently retired from Golden Heights Nursing Home where she dedicated herself with the same quiet strength and kindness that defined her life.  Kathy was a woman of gentle spirit and warm heart.  She touched the lives of many with her compassion, resilience and the way she put others before herself.  She had a special gift for baking, especially her chocolate chip cookies.  She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Joe Tanyer of Jeannette, Bob and Kathie Tanyer of Jeannette, Elaine (Concetta) and Kim Farbaugh of Torrence, Rosella Tanyer of Jeannette, Becky and Bill Gaskin of Jeannette, and Gladys and Chuck Cook of Greensburg.  She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews as well as her second family Rick and Beverly Tanyer with whom she resided.  In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, her brother-in-law Ron Yeckel and sister-in-law Bea Tanyer.Friends and family will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc 201 N. First St. Jeannette.  A funeral liturgy will be held Friday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Deacon William Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.  Kathy’s kindness, strength and loving spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
